Hi mates. Today i would like to talk about popular free online RPG – RuneScape. RS – released on 24 March, 2004 and is available for free (there is possibility to upgrade account for 5$/month – this unlock many in-game bonuses). RuneScape is available in three language versions: English, French and German. Well, RuneScape is very popular free online rpg – there are around 12 millions of active accounts. There is not any plot line or anything, player can travel all the time or hang around with other online gamers. You are bored? You can always farm some monsters or upgrade your skills. World is very large and various, with many interesting zones. There are few ways to travel, in this large virtual world – you can travel on foot (Boooring!) or using Gnomish air lines or flying carpets, ships or using best method – teleportation. Well, RuneScape has very exiting Player vs. Player mode and very original skill system. You don’t need to farm anything if you don’t want to, in game you are free.

Also, in my opinion, game is great because of many in-game minigames, available for everyone who bought upgraded account (except Duel Arena, Clan Wars i Fist Of Guthix, Bounty Hunter, The Great Orb Project).

Welcome on my weblog, today i want to bring some memories about history of online rpg. As you already know, free online rpg – (role-playing games) are probably one of the most popular games today.
That’s why i want to write all about history of this magnificent genre of games. If you probably known, first MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) was “Neverwinter Nights” (1991). Well, then game cost USD $6.00 per hour to play, so only richest players could play in this first MMORPG. Second, very popular and attractive game was Meridian 59, great 2D game from 3DO. This company is very known for Heroes of Might and Magic and Might and Magic saga.
Anyway these games are also very cool. Anyway Merdian 59, wasn’t free online RPG. Game is primitive, but back then was really innovative and fresh title in this genre.
Second and probably most popular games of the 90s is Ultima Online, related to other parts of Ultima world. This game was first, may be credited with first popularizing the genre – commercial MMORPG, with large player base and extraordinary PvP system (player vs. player).

Free online RPGs are very popular, mostly because so much people has Internet access and don’t want to spend a lot of money on games. List of free online RPGs is really long, from less popular games (but also very good) to gigantic hits like Maple Story with 50 millions of players (personally i think Maple Story is to boring with all these grinding and stuff).
RPG mean, Role Playing Games, it’s genre of games created long time ago. According to wikipedia: “Dungeons & Dragons, published in 1974 by Dave Arneson’s and E. Gary Gygax’s TSR, was the first commercially available role-playing game.”
In these games, the participants assume the roles of fictional characters. There is also dude who is called Game Master (GM) this one is boss and is telling fictional story, in which players are involved.
Online RPG is something similar, but players are playing online on server without game master. Each character has specific statistics, skills, name, appearance or items and armors etc.
